The EQ8 Block Library contains over 6,000 blocks, but
sometimes I want to draw a new block. Or I want to modify
a block from the library. Both are super easy in EQ. On the
Block Worktable, click on New Block > Pieced > EasyDraw.
The Line tool allows you to draw straight line segments. To
divide the Nine Patch block in half, position the cursor at the
upper-left corner of the block. Click, hold, and drag your
mouse diagonally across the block to the lower-right corner
and release your mouse to create three half-square triangles.

Position the cursor at the upper-left corner of the block. Click,
hold, and drag your mouse diagonally across the block to the
lower-right corner and release your mouse. You’ve drawn four
lines at once to create a Nine Patch block.
EasyDraw is like drawing with pencil and paper. In the tool
palette, the Line, Arc, and Grid tools are for drawing; the Pick
and Edit tools are for adjusting the drawing. Before you start
drawing, on the
Precision Bar you need to set the Block Width
and Height as well as the
Snaps Horizontal and Vertical. In this
example the block is set to 6" x 6" and the Snaps to 24
Horizontal and Vertical. This will make the lines snap every
quarter inch (0.25").
Click the Delete button in the palette (or press the Delete key on
your keyboard). The line will disappear. Continue in the same way
until all the lines in the upper-right section have been deleted.

The Grid tool is a fast way to create a four patch or nine patch
block. Click the Grid tool on the EasyDraw worktable. Enter the
number of columns and rows you want for the grid. The number
refers to the number of divisions and not the number of lines
being drawn.
You can make a variation of the Split Nine Patch block by deleting
a few lines. Click the
Pick tool. Click on one of the lines in the
upper-right section of the block to select it. The line will be bold
with little squares around it.
The Arc tool allows you to draw curved line segments. The arcs are
perfect quarter-circle arcs when you draw them. To draw an arc,
position the cursor in the lower-left corner of the block. Click, hold,
and drag your mouse diagonally across the block to the upper-right
corner and release your mouse.
Position the cursor at the lower-left corner of the block again. Click,
hold, and drag your mouse diagonally across the block. Notice that
the curve is facing the same way. To make the arc curve in the
opposite direction press the Spacebar on the keyboard.
